A little reminder that life is fleeting, and perhaps a good reason to slow down and enjoy the moment.

Inspired by the winged skulls found on old New England gravestones, this Memento Mori Incense Burner combines a bit of historic New England imagery with a simple, functional design. The half-circle back features an engraved winged skull and the words Memento Mori, while a matching half-circle base sits at a right angle beneath it, creating a shallow tray to catch falling ash.

A brass ferrule holds your incense stick securely in place, while the open design makes it easy to remove and clean away accumulated ash.

Equal parts functional object and small piece of folk-inspired decor, it makes a distinctive addition to an altar, meditation space, bedside table, or anywhere you enjoy burning incense.

Each burner is made from solid hardwood and finished by hand in my shop. Because wood is a natural material, the grain and color of each piece will vary slightly.
